Memphis Redbirds News Release

MEMPHIS, TN - The Memphis Redbirds continued a six-game road trip with a 12-9 rain-shortened loss at the Charlotte Knights at Truist Park on Thursday night.

For the fourth consecutive game, right fielder Moises Gomez hit a home run. In the third inning of Thursday's game, the right-handed slugger clubbed a solo home run for his 27th long ball of the season.

Second baseman Cesar Prieto clubbed his fifth home run at Triple-A this season with a grand slam to give Memphis the lead in the second inning. Prieto finished the night 2-for-5 with a run scored, a home run and four RBI. The game was called due to rain in the top of the ninth inning when the Redbirds had the tying run on deck and outs.

Right-handed pitcher Sem Robberse made his fourth start with Memphis since being acquired in a trade from Toronto at the trade deadline. Robberse tossed 4.0 innings, allowed six runs on seven hits, walked two batters and struck out four.

The Redbirds (60-63) return to AutoZone Park on Tuesday, August 29 to begin a six-game homestand at 6:45p.m. CDT against the Gwinnett Stripers.
