Charlotte Knights News Release

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- Center fielder Tyler Neslony launched a two-run home run and drove home four runs to help lead the Charlotte Knights to a 12-9 win over the Memphis Redbirds in game three of the six-game series from Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte.

The Knights put together a solid offensive showing on Thursday, scoring four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and six runs in the seventh inning. The team combined to tally 12 runs on 12 hits in what turned out to be an impressive come-from-behind win in game three.

Offensively, Neslony had a solid day at the plate for the Knights. The 29-year-old went 2-for-3 with three runs scored, one home run and four RBI. Along with Neslony, first baseman Xavier Fernández had three hits and two RBI to continue his hot hitting. Fernandez has recorded a hit in nine consecutive games.

In the top of the ninth inning, with the Knights ahead by a score of 12-9, the game went into a delay as the rain intensified. After a 31-minute rain delay, the game was called in the top of the ninth inning with one out due to inclement weather.

RHP Johan Domínguez started the game on Thursday and allowed four runs on four hits over 1.2 innings pitched. He did not factor in the decision. RHP Mike Mayers (4-4, 6.57) earned the win out of the Charlotte bullpen. He allowed one run on three hits over 0.1 innings pitched. RHP Nick Padilla, who recorded the only out in the top of the ninth inning, earned his fifth save of the season.

Thursday's win was the team's second in as many days over the Redbirds. The Knights are 2-1 so far in the series.

The Knights will continue the six-game homestand on Saturday with a day/night doubleheader against the Memphis Redbirds (Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals). The "Voice of the Charlotte Knights" Matt Swierad and long-time Knights broadcaster Mike Pacheco will have the call for all of the action. First pitch for game one on Saturday is set for 1:05 p.m. and first pitch for game two is set for 7:04 p.m. from Truist Field.
