Indianapolis Indians News Release
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Tyler Glasnow continued his dominant month of June with seven no-hit innings, but the Indians fell to Gwinnett in the 10th by a 4-3 score on Wednesday evening at Coolray Field.
Glasnow finished the game with seven innings, no hits, five walks and eight strikeouts. The effort drove his ERA for June down to 0.32 and extended his hitless streak to 13 consecutive frames in back-to-back starts.
The Tribe was first on the board with a two-run second inning. Gift Ngoepe singled up the middle with the bases loaded in his first at bat of the series, plating a pair.
Indianapolis (39-33) loaded the bases again in the fifth to force the departure of Manny Banuelos, but couldn't bring any runs across.
Glasnow found himself in a jam in the sixth. The G-Braves put runners on the corners with just one man out, but Alen Hanson cleanly fielded a ground ball near the second base bag to start an inning-ending double play.
Trey Haley tapped out Glasnow in the eighth, working a scoreless frame before running into trouble in the ninth. Starting the stanza with a 3-0 advantage, back-to-back hits and a series of walks allowed the G-Braves to level the scales and force extras for the second consecutive night.
The extra frames would be brief, as Anthony Recker homered in the bottom of the 10th to deliver Gwinnett (33-40) a victory.
Jhondaniel Medina (0-1) received the loss while Jose Ramirez (2-2) was awarded the winning decision.
The series finale is set for Thursday at 7:05 p.m.
