Syracuse Mets News Release
The Syracuse Chiefs are excited to announce Community Night, to be held Saturday, July 2nd at 7:05 p.m. at NBT Bank Stadium. Community Night will be presented by Visit Syracuse and Destiny USA as the Chiefs take on the Rochester Red Wings.
Community Night helps raise funds and bring awareness to non-profit organizations across Central New York that help local communities. This year, Community Night will raise money for the Challenger Baseball League and RBI Baseball. Two dollars from every ticket sale, as well as money raised from the night's 50/50 raffle, will be distributed to these organizations.
"This is what the Chiefs have been about for more than 100 years", said general manager Jason Smorol. "We are Central New York. By doing what we do best - putting on a great night of affordable family entertainment - we can help our whole community. Visit Syracuse and Destiny USA wanted to find a way to give back to our great community and this idea was born. We chose the 4th of July weekend, one of our biggest weekends of the year, to pack the park and support these fantastic organizations by simply going to a ball game!"
The first 1,000 fans through the gates on Community Night will receive a free Chiefs water bottle, courtesy of Visit Syracuse and Destiny USA. Gates for the 7:05 p.m. game will open at 6 p.m. Fans can also enjoy entertainment from Breakin' BBoy McCoy, a unique traveling breakdancing act who will serve as a batboy during the game.
Every Saturday home game this summer is a Super Saturday featuring postgame fireworks. Community Night's fireworks show will serve as the largest of the season, presented in partnership with Visit Syracuse and Destiny USA.
The Challenger Baseball League offers children with physical and mental challenges a chance to play and enjoy games of baseball. Since its induction in 1989, the Challenger Division has grown to over 900 Divisions worldwide, with over 30,000 children participating today. RBI Baseball is a program dedicated to providing inner-city youth a chance to participate in baseball and softball games. RBI Baseball has partnered with the Boys and Girls Club of Syracuse in order to teach children the values of teamwork and inclusion through the games of baseball and softball.
"Giving back to the community is incredibly important to all of us at Destiny USA," said Aiden McGuire, director of marketing, Destiny USA. "Every year, we support hundreds of inspirational local non-profits and community organizations. And we are excited to continue that support by partnering with the Syracuse Chiefs and Visit Syracuse to showcase the very best this community has to offer both on and off the field."
"Visit Syracuse's entire existence is dedicated to improving and enhancing the community through tourism," said Visit Syracuse President David Holder. "That's why we are proud to partner with the Chiefs and Destiny USA to support the efforts to give back on such a magical day for the entire country."
Tickets for Community Night and any other Chiefs game can be purchased at syracusechiefs.com, by calling 474-7833 or in person at the NBT Bank Stadium ticket office.
