Louisville Bats News Release
Buffalo, N.Y. - The Louisville Bats fell short of a comeback in a 6-3 defeat against the Buffalo Bisons on Tuesday night.
Righty Robert Stephenson (4-4, 3.88) took the loss while lefty John Anderson (1-1, 6.00) snagged the win for Buffalo. Stephenson pitched four innings before the Bats called on lefty Nick Routt, who pitched two scoreless innings in his Triple-A debut, to the mound. Righty Dayan Diaz replaced Routt in the seventh followed by a Chad Rogers pitching change in the eighth.
Stephenson gave up six earned runs on four hits, walking four and striking out a pair. The six runs were the most he's given up in an outing since September 1, 2015.
The bottom of the third set the tone for the game when Matt Dominguez's grand slam for Buffalo dug the Bats into a 4-0 hole. From that point on, the Bats were playing catch up. Buffalo's David Adams promptly homered in the following inning to score Casey Kotchman, extending the Buffalo lead to 6-0.
Louisville punched back in the top of the fifth when Jermaine Curtis singled to score Seth Mejias-Brean and Chris Berset, with Scott Schebler driving in Curtis.
Buffalo closed out the game with a 6-3 victory.
The Bats will start left-hander Amir Garrett (5-3, 1.75 with Double-A Pensacola) in what will be his first career start with the Louisville Bats. He's expected to face righty Chris Leroux (4-4, 3.61) for Buffalo at 7:05 p.m.
