
Gladiators' Schell Named CCM TACKS Player Of Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Brad
Schell of the Gwinnett Gladiators is the CCM TACKS ECHL Player
of the Month for December.
The 22-year-old leads the ECHL in points with 60 and assists with 46 and
he led the league in both categories in December with 30 points and 22
assists. Schell had a 15-game scoring streak (7g-20a) that began on Nov. 25
and continued for all 13 games in December before ending on Jan. 4. The
streak is the second-longest in the ECHL this season. In December Schell
had 11 multi-point games as Gwinnett finished 7-6-1 and in third place in
both the South Division and the American Conference.
The Scott, Saskatchewan native had back-to-back three-point nights against
Columbia on Dec. 23 (1g-2a) and 27 (2g-1a) and on Dec. 15 scored four
points (1g-3a) including the game-winning goal in a 5-3 win over Pensacola.
The 6-foot and 190-pound Schell had four power-play goals and one
shorthand goal in December.
Selected in the sixth round (167th overall) by the Atlanta Thrashers in
the 2002 NHL Entry Draft and under contract to Atlanta, Schell scored 13
points (1g-12a) in 17 playoff games last season as Gwinnett lost in the
Kelly Cup Finals to Alaska 4-1.
Schell is in his third season in the ECHL all with Gwinnett, and has also
spent time in the American Hockey League with Chicago.
