Augusta Lynx News Release

Augusta, GA - Ryan Lang continued his torrid scoring pace, notching four assists to pace the Augusta Lynx offense in a 7-4 win over the Texas Wildcatters Tuesday night at the James Brown Arena and extend his point scoring streak to eight games.

After the Wildcatters moved out to a 2-0 lead to open the first period, Lang combined with Louis Goulet to set up Shane Hynes for his 13th goal of the year at 10:16 and close the gap to 2-1 after the opening frame.

Augusta owned the second period, scoring three times to grab a 4-2 lead. Ken Scuderi scored his second goal in as many games on a Lang feed at 9:47, wristing a puck past Texas starter Matt Yeats to tie the game.

Lang and Joe Pereira teamed up on a power play effort, with Pereira feeding Goulet at the side of the Texas goalmouth at 15:49 for his 15th marker of the campaign. Goulet swept the puck into the Wildcatters' net as he fell backwards to the ice, giving Augusta a lead they would not relinquish.

Goulet returned the favor to Pereira later in the period, firing a feed in front for a tip over the left pad of Yeats and a two goal edge through 40 minutes of play. Lang tacked on his fourth consecutive assist on the tally as well.

Third period action saw Ryan Petz net his first goal in a Lynx uniform from Weston Tardy just 1:54 after the opening faceoff for a 5-2 Augusta lead. With that goal Yeats was pulled in favor of Miroslav Kopriva, and the Wildcatters seemed motivated by the switch. For the next 11:39, not only would Texas score twice, but they would not allow a shot on goal as the game narrowed to 5-4.

When the Lynx finally did get a shot on goal, it was a shorthanded breakaway goal off the stick of Aaron Slattengren at 13:55, beating Kopriva low blocker to give the Lynx its two goal cushion back. Ken Scuderi collected the assist on the goal that put Augusta back in control of the game for good.

Mike Erickson wrapped up the game's scoring by potting his 11th of the year from Slattengren and Passmore, a power play goal with just 3:08 left in the game.

Nathan Marsters stopped 28 shots to pick up the win for Augusta, his second of the year. Yeats took the loss with 10 saves on 15 shots while Kopriva finished with two saves on four shots.

Texas forward Riley Emmerson scored his first two professional goals on the night in the loss.

The same two teams will get back to action at the James Brown Arena in Augusta on Friday night at 7:35 pm, with tickets on sale tomorrow at 9 am by calling the Lynx office at (706) 724-4ICE, via all TicketMaster locations, and on line at www.TicketMaster.com.
