Vancouver Giants News Release

The Vancouver Giants have returned home after finishing off a stretch of playing six games in eight days.

Last Tuesday, the Giants put up 43 shots against Moose Jaw and defeated the Warriors 4-1 at the Pacific Coliseum. Adam Courchaine netted his fifth game-winning goal of the season in the victory.

Wednesday night, the Giants scored four unanswered goals to come-from-behind and defeat the Prince George Cougars 6-3 at the Multiplex. Mitch Bartley and Gilbert Brule each had two goals and an assist in the victory while 15-year-old goaltender Tyson Sexsmith picked up the win in his first WHL start.

Friday night, the Giants fell short 4-3 to the Cougars. The game was the first played by the newest members of the Giants organization in centre Ryan Costanzo and defenceman Brett Festerling, both acquired in a trade Thursday from the Tri-City Americans.

Saturday, the Giants dropped a 5-3 decision to the Kelowna Rockets at Prospera Place. Goaltender Marek Schwarz, making his first start since returning from the World Junior Championships, made 33 saves in a losing cause.

The Giants remain in third place in the WHL's B.C. Division with a record of 22-17-1-2=47 points. The team will play another four games this week, all against Western Conference opponents.
