The Kelowna Rockets fell 7-2 to the Vancouver Giants at the Langley Events Centre on Friday night.

Six of the Giants goals came from their special teams, including two short-handed goals. Vegas Golden Knights prospect Jesper Vikman made 26 saves to pick up his second straight victory over the Rockets.

Adam Hall (5) opened the scoring 2:08 into the game with a short-handed goal. Colton Dach (4) responded for the Rockets, but Ty Thorpe (4) re-established the Giants lead while on the power play before the end of the first.

Ty Halaburda (1) Justin Sourdif (3) pushed the Giants ahead in the second with a power-play and short-handed marker. Jake Poole (2) cut the lead in half while on the power play. The Giants power play continued to dominate, with goals coming from Connor Horning (2) and Sourdif (4). Fabian Lysell (2) scored the final goal and Vancouver's even-strength goal of the game.

Cole Tisdale replaced Colby Knight in net for the Rockets at the start of the third period. Knight turned aside 22 of the 29 shots he faced, while Tisdale stopped all 11 shots fired on him.

Kelowna was one for four with the man advantage, while the Giants were successful on four of five attempts.

Turner McMillen, Steel Quiring and Elias Carmichael were the Rockets scratches. Carmichael is listed as day to day with a lower-body injury on the Rockets Injury Report.

The Rockets record is now 2-3-0-0.

Kelowna will be back in action tomorrow night when they kick off a five-game homestand against the Victoria Royals at Prospera Place. A limited number of single-game tickets are available at selectyourtickets.com, at the Prospera Place box office or by phone at 250-762-5050.

The current B.C. Provincial Health Office restrictions allow for 50% capacity at Prospera Place. All fans attending will need to abide by the BC Provincial Health Authority, Prospera Place and the Western Hockey League's recently announced COVID-19 health and safety requirements which includes masks, double vaccination and their BC vaccine card.
