Tri-City Americans News Release
Americans vs. Thunderbirds
Saturday, October 30 | Kennewick, WA | Toyota Center
The Americans and Thunderbirds will meet tonight at the Toyota Center, the first of three straight head-to-head games between the two division rivals.
This will be the second game in a 14 game season series between Tri-City and Seattle. They matched up for the first time last week on Friday, October 22 at the Toyota Center as the Thunderbirds took a 5-0 shutout victory. Tomas Milic stopped 19 of 19 shots faced for Seattle to record his second career shutout.
The Americans last played a week ago against the Spokane Chiefs. They will look to use the rest to their advantage and end a five game losing streak. The Thunderbirds played last night in Spokane and took a 4-1 victory over the Chiefs extending their winning to four games.
Tri-City had a strong start in their last game against the Chiefs, but ultimately fell 7-3 after a dooming second period. Dwayne Jean Jr. opened scoring with his first career goal and Jake Sloan followed with a goal later in the period to give the Americans a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes. Their success faded in the second period as the Chiefs scored five straight goals in under ten minutes. The young Americans team continued to play hard through the final minutes of the game as Deagan McMillan netted his first WHL goal on a power play with just seven seconds remaining.
Ethan Ernst played his first game with the team last Saturday after being acquired from the Kelowna Rockets the day before.
