Garlock returns for playoffs

Johnstown, PA - The Johnstown Chiefs announced today that center Ryan Garlock has returned to the team from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League. Garlock will be in uniform when the Chiefs open the 2008 Kelly Cup Playoffs today at 5:00 PM against the Dayton Bombers.

Garlock was signed by the Springfield Falcons of the AHL on March 10, 2008. The first-year Chief spent six games with Springfield, and recorded an assist in his second game with the Falcons on March 15 against Worcester. After being released by Springfield, Garlock was picked up by the Hershey Bears and played in five games. He had one assist in Hershey, as well, picking up a helper on March 29 against Hamilton. Garlock also spent three games with Binghamton from November 23-28, and registered an assist on the 24th against Wilkes-Barre.

Prior to his signing with Springfield, Garlock led the Chiefs with 60 points on 26 goals and 34 assists. Garlock made a one-game return to Johnstown and assisted on a goal in the Chiefs' 3-2 loss to Cincinnati on March 17. That assist extended Garlock's team-leading point streak to 17 games (12g-19a). That stretch is tied with Lou Dickenson of Gwinnett for the second longest point streak in the ECHL this season.

Garlock represented Johnstown at the 2008 ECHL All-Star game and assisted on Brett Hemingway's goal at 16:14 of the third period.

The Chiefs' return to home ice for Game 2 of the first round of the 2008 Kelly Cup Playoffs on Tuesday, April 8. Johnstown will face off against the Dayton Bombers at the Cambria County War Memorial at 7:05 PM. Game 3, if necessary, will be played on Wednesday, April 9 with a 7:05 PM faceoff.
