Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release
BILOXI, MS - The Mississippi Sea Wolves and Beef O'Brady's will be hosting a playoff party on Monday, April 7 at 7:00 p.m. at the Beef O'Brady's Family Sports Pub, located at 11010 Highway 49 in Gulfport.
Fans will have a chance to win door prizes and will be able to celebrate the start of the 2008 Kelly Cup Playoffs with the Sea Wolves players and staff.
"Just like our fans, the players and staff are looking forward to the start of the playoffs," said Sea Wolves president Bill Yates. "We're excited for our fans to join us at Beef O'Brady's to show support for the players as the 2008 Kelly Cup Playoffs begin."
Tickets for the 2008 Kelly Cup Playoffs are currently on sale. Fans can purchase tickets by calling 228.275.WOLF or by stopping by the Sea Wolves office located on the lower level of the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.
Single game ticket pricing for the 2008 Kelly Cup Playoffs is the same as during the regular season, with tickets starting as low as $10. Fans who have already purchased playoff packages can pick them up at the Sea Wolves office.
Mississippi enters the Kelly Cup Playoffs as the eighth seed in the South Division, and will face the Texas Wildcatters in the best-of-five first round series. The series will begin with a pair of games at Ford Arena in Beaumont, Texas, on April 9 and 10. The Sea Wolves will return home to host game three of the series on Saturday, April 12, at 7:05. Game four, if necessary, will be Sunday, April 13 at 5:05 p.m. at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. Game five will be at Ford Arena in Beaumont on April 16.
The Sea Wolves have appeared in five consecutive Kelly Cup Playoffs, dating back to 2002. Mississippi has won nine-of-fifteen playoff series that it has participated in. Overall, the Sea Wolves are 34-24 in the Kelly Cup Playoffs, including a 14-4 run to the 1999 Kelly Cup Championship.
Mississippi has never faced Texas in a playoff series. During the 2008 regular season, Mississippi was 4-8-1 against the Wildcatters. The Sea Wolves are the only team to have bested Texas twice in regulation during the 2007-08 regular season and with four wins, including overtime wins on December 20 and March 22, have defeated Texas more times than any other opponent the Wildcatters have faced in 2007-08.
