TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: Tonight's matchup is the eighth meeting between divisional rivals the Adirondack and Norfolk and begins a back to back set between the teams at the Norfolk Scope. Tomorrow's meeting will mark the Thunder's final game in Virginia and the second to last meeting of the season between the teams. The Thunder won in convincing fashion, 5-1, in the last meeting between the teams on February 6 in Glens Falls and hold a 4-3 series lead overall on the season to date.
HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLFE: Forward Greg Wolfe made his presence felt on Sunday against Reading, as he collected a trio of assists with a hand in all Thunder goals during the 3-1 win. Wolfe's three points were a season high and his three helpers tied a career high from February 7, 2015 as a member of the Alaska Aces. With his three helpers, Wolfe now leads all Adirondack players with five assists and eight points against the Royals this season.
KIRKPATRICK OF THE TRADE: Michael Kirkpatrick had a multi-point game in Sunday's win over Reading with a goal and an assist. The North Sydney, NS native was named as the runner up for the ECHL Rookie of the Month award for February, as he collected 13 points (7-6-13) in 13 games played. Kirkpatrick, who leads all ECHL rookies with 23 goals on the season, also leads the Thunder in all scoring categories including goals, assists, points, power-play goals and power-play points.
LEVEL PLAYING FIELD: Thunder netminder Drew Fielding picked up his eighth win of the season on Sunday with a 24-save effort against the Royals. Since returning to the Thunder in late February, Fielding has made 40 or more saves in 3 of the five games he's started. The Burlington, ONT native is 7-2-2 with the Thunder this season posting a stellar 1.68 GAA to go along with an as equally impressive .949 SV% and two shutouts.
SILEN BUT DEADLY: Forward Jeff Silengo joined Wolfe and Kirkpatrick on the multi-point train with a goal and an assist in Sunday's win, including the eventual game-winning goal late in the first period. Silengo has shattered career highs in all major scoring categories with 11 goals, 11 assists and 22 points on the season to date, making him one of four Thunder player with double digit goals on the season.
BIG BROD: Thunder defenseman and alternate captain Mathieu Brodeur has added to his usual steady defensive play with a four-game point streak and six points over his last six games. Brodeur, who opened Sunday's scoring with a power-play goal, has collected 16 shots on goal during his streak and is +5. The Montreal native is third amongst Adirondack defensemen this season with 13 assists and 18 points.
