Rush for Ca$h Set for Friday
March 3, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Rapid City Rush News Release
(RAPID CITY, SD) - The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the Arizona Coyotes, are excited to welcome 15 teachers from the Rapid City Area Elementary Schools System to the team's first-ever "Rush for Ca$h" event that will take place during the first intermission of Friday night's matchup against the Fort Wayne Komets.
"My principal informed me of the event and asked if I would represent the school. I'm very excited for the opportunity to go out there and get as much money as I can," said South Canyon Elementary's School Counselor, Caleb Chapman. "This is a great way to earn funds for our school. It's a good community event for all involved from the teachers, to the schools, and our students watching and cheering us on at the game."
$5,000 in $1 bills will be laid out at center ice and each teacher will have exactly one minute to grab as much money as they can for their respective school. Proceeds have been furnished by First Interstate Bank.
"When I first heard that the Rush were putting on this event, the first thought in my mind was that this would be a great way to show our community the outstanding partnership that the Rapid City Area Elementary Schools share with the Rush," added Greg McNabb, Principal of Corral Drive Elementary School. "We have Miss Tiffanie Wentz representing our school, and she's been a 4th Grade teacher for six years with us. Miss Wentz is a great critical thinker, and I'm sure she has a calculated strategy up her sleeve that will help Corral Drive garner the most money."
Here are your contestants for Friday night's "Rush for Ca$h" Event:

"It's very special when we can do an event with our local educators who give so much of themselves on a daily basis to make their students succeed," said Rush General Manager, Joe Ferras. "Having a wife that is a school teacher at Valley View Elementary, I have to be careful and not show my bias for the Vikings on Friday night. All kidding aside, we're very excited and know that it is going to a great evening for all involved. We would like to thank First Interstate Bank, our loyal corporate sponsor, for being instrumental in making this night possible."
"This is so exciting. The hype for this event and my participation in it has built such a sense of community in our school," Tamara Kerns, K-5 Math and Reading Instructional Support Teacher of Horace Mann Elementary explained. "The excitement from all of the students and my fellow teachers coming to the game to cheer me on has been so much fun to take in. At the end of the day though, it's all about the kids. Anything we gain from Friday night's event that benefits our children is so important." When asked if she had a strategy to help earn the most for her school, Kerns concluded: "Yes I do have a strategy! I'm just going to lay on the money and scoop as much as possible!"
Come out and cheer on your local teachers tomorrow night!
