Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release

Greenville, SC - The Greenville Swamp Rabbits, proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, today announced the club has acquired rookie goaltender Alain Valiquette from the Elmira Jackals in exchange for future considerations. In addition, forward Darian Dziurzynski has been traded to the Missouri Mavericks for a player to be named.

Valiquette, 25, made his professional debut with Elmira last Friday after spending the majority of the 2015-16 campaign, and each of the last two seasons, at Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario. He went 1-0-0 with the Jackals and recorded a 3.13 goals-against-average and .912 save percentage in two appearances.

A native of Sudbury, Valiquette played 55 games during a three-year career at Laurentian and amassed a 3.33 goals-against-average, .907 save percentage and one shutout, including a career-best 3.02 goals-against-average and .911 save percentage in 22 contests earlier this season. The rookie netminder also spent one year at the University of Western Ontario in 2011-12, going 6-3-0 with a 3.07 goals-against-average and .895 save percentage in 10 starts.

Prior to his collegiate career, Valiquette played four full seasons of junior hockey with his hometown team, the Sudbury Wolves (Ontario Hockey League), from 2007-11. He posted a combined record of 50-67-6 with a 3.28 goals-against-average, .893 save percentage and four shutouts during that span. The 6'3, 186-pound netminder also helped Sudbury to the OHL Eastern Conference Semifinals in 2010-11 when he posted a career-best 27 wins.

Dziurzynski, 24, recorded 23 points (12g, 11a) and 39 penalty minutes in 35 games with the Swamp Rabbits this season. He was acquired from Tulsa on November 12 where he collected four points (2g, 2a) and 16 penalty minutes in his first nine games of the 2015-16 campaign.

A native of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Dziurzynski was originally drafted in the fifth round (141st overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft by the Arizona Coyotes.
