Jackals Receive Defenseman Matt Prapavessis from Rochester

ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira Jackals, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres and the AHL's Rochester Americans, announced today that defenseman Matt Prapavessis has been assigned to Elmira from Rochester. Additionally, the club announced that goaltender Alain Valiquette has been traded to the Greenville Swamp Rabbits for cash considerations.

Prapavessis, 24, has appeared in 25 games with the Rochester Americans this season posting two points and 12 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-1 200-pound defenseman turned pro last season and skated in 10 games with Rochester following the conclusion of his collegiate career at Bemidji State University.

The Oakville, Ontario native served as a two-time captain at Bemidji State University and recorded 70 points (17 goals, 53 assists) in 150 NCAA games. Prapavessis was named to the WCHA Second All-Star Team as a senior and earned WCHA All-Academic team honors in his final three seasons.

Valiquette, 25, appeared in two games with the Jackals and won his first professional start on Saturday against Wheeling. He posted a record of 1-0-0 with a 3.13 goals-against-average and a .912 save percentage.
