Alaska Aces News Release

BOISE, IDAHO - Jefferson Dahl snuck behind the Alaska defense and scored just 13 seconds into the overtime period as the Idaho Steelheads took a 4-3 victory from the Alaska Aces at the CenturyLink Arena in Boise.

Dahl's shot deflected off the blocker of Aces goaltender Jacob DeSerres and into the air. DeSerres couldn't locate the puck and it dropped just in front of the crossbar, on the goal line and trickled into the net for the game-winner.

The Steelheads were gifted the first goal of the game as the Aces committed a nasty turnover in their own zone. The puck slid right on the stick of Jake Fallon, and he wasted little time zapping the disc top-shelf, glove-side on a surprised DeSerres. It was Fallon's 5th goal of the season. The rest of the period was pretty even, and it ended with both teams firing 9 shots on goal.

Alaska tied the game at 6:58 of the second period. After accepting a pass from Aces newcomer Brandon Martell, Stephen Perfetto launched a shot that was stopped by Steelheads goaltender Phillippe Derosiers. Justin Breton took a swat at the puck and got enough of it to propel it in the net for his team-leading 18th goal of the season.

Didn't take Idaho long to counter. Joe Basaraba tracked down the rebound of an Andre-Bouvet Morrissette backhand shot that DeSerres stopped, but left in front of the net. Basaraba got his 6th goal of the season.

Garet Hunt then drove the net hard at the 9:23 mark and deflected a Ryan Tesink centering pass for his 8th goal of the season and the game was tied at 2 going into the third period.

Rob Linsmayer scored his 14th goal of the season on a leaker at 7:50 for Idaho, but Breton fired back at 12:05 for his second goal of the game, 19th of the season and the game was tied at 3 before Dahl's heroics early in the overtime.

Alaska outshot Idaho 29-20 for the game.

The two teams will play again Friday and Saturday nights at the CenturyLink Arena.

The Aces return to the Sullivan Arena on Friday, March 9 against Ft. Wayne.
