WEDNESDAY
The Bakersfield Condors play their ninth of 10 games against the Ontario Reign and own a 5-3-0-0 record in the season series. Two of the team's three losses though have come at home.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
The Condors closed out a season series with their fourth straight win over San Diego, 2-1, on Saturday night. After the Gulls grabbed a 1-0 first intermission lead, LW Ostap Safin tied it in the second and LW Joey LaLeggia scored on a three-on-one in the third period to give the Condors a 5-2-1 record against the Gulls this season.
Ontario swept the weekend after a Friday victory against the Condors and a Saturday 5-3 win over visiting Cleveland. LW Matt Moulson had two goals, C Philippe Mailett had two assists, and G Scott Wedgewood stopped 30 of 33 for the win.
STANDINGS SITUATION
Bakersfield begins the night in seventh place but could jump to fifth with a win. They begin the night a point back of 6th place San Antonio, two back of 5th place Stockton, and the equivalent of just over two back of fourth place Texas. The Condors will need at least five of six wins down the stretch and will need Texas to do no better than six points over their final six games (.500 record).
CURRIE LEADS THE WAY
Since December 1, C Josh Currie leads the team in scoring with 36 points (15g-21a) in 44 games and is +7.
MONSTER MARCH
The line of Joey LaLeggia - Josh Currie - Zach O'Brien delivered a big month of March. LaLeggia had a line-high 5 goals and nine points in 12 games. O'Brien tied the team lead in scoring with 10 points (1g-9a) and in addition to his 10 ppoints (3g-7a), Currie was a team-high +8.
CONDORS NOTES
Rookie C Joe Gambardella led the Condors with seven goals in 12 games in March. He is second in rookie shooting percentage at 20% and leads all Condors rookies with 12 goals on the season... D Keegan Lowe was returned to the Condors over the weekend. His +13 leads the team and he was +7 alone in March... Bakersfield's penalty kill is 10th at 83.9%.
REIGN NOTES
Ontario is 8-2-0-0 in its last 10 games including a 6-0 win at home over Bakersfield on Friday... The Reign are 26-3-1-1 when scoring first. Their .871 points percentage when opening the scoring is the best in the AHL... The Reign's road power play in second in the AHL at 22.7%.
