Florida Panthers Acquire G Dan Ellis from Dallas

SUNRISE, Fla. - Florida Panthers Executive Vice President & General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the club has acquired G Dan Ellis from the Dallas Stars in exchange for G Tim Thomas.

Ellis, 33, has played in 14 games for Dallas this season, posting a 5-6-0 record with .900 save percentage and 3.04 GAA. The Saskatoon, Sask native has appeared in 198 career National Hockey League games with the Dallas Stars (2003-04, 2013-14), Nashville Predators (2007-10), Tampa Bay Lightning (2010-11), Anaheim Ducks (2011-2012) and Carolina Hurricanes (2012-13), posting an 83-71-17 record with .908 save percentage and 2.75 GAA.

Ellis has played in 158 career AHL games (2003-13), posting a 69-74-4 record with .906 save percentage and 2.76 GAA. The 6-foot-1, 191-lb goaltender was drafted by Dallas in the second round (60th overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
