Fri., Feb. 28 - Penguins 0 at SYRACUSE 4
Crunch defenseman Matt Taormina notched his first two-goal game since October of 2009 and Anders Lindback made 30 saves in his first AHL start of the season to lift Syracuse to a 4-0 win over Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
Sat., Mar. 1 - Penguins 2 at ALBANY 1
Trailing 1-0 with less than seven minutes remaining, the Penguins rallied for a 2-1 victory over the Devils at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. Tom Kostopoulos' power play goal with 3:52 left in regulation was his fifth game-winning goal of the season. Peter Mannino made 19-of-20 saves for the win.
The Week Ahead
Fri., Mar. 7- Penguins at UTICA
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton makes the trip for its first-ever road game against the Utica Comets. A 2-1 win over Bridgeport on Sunday put an end to a three-game losing streak for the Comets. Utica (26-23-4-5) is fourth in the North Division.
Sat., Mar. 8 - Penguins at HAMILTON
The Bulldogs have won three straight to get back to .500 at 25-25-1-4 and sit two points ahead of Utica in the North. This is the first meeting between the two teams since February 21, 2009. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton is 9-7-2 (W-L/OTL-T/SOL) in the all-time series versus Hamilton.
Sun., Mar. 9 - Penguins at TORONTO
Toronto (33-18-2-2) has triumphed in five of its last six contests to maintain its hold on the top spot in the North Division. T.J. Brennan leads all AHL defenseman in goals (21), points (56) and power play points (24).
Ice Chips
- Tom Kostopoulos' game-winning power play goal on Saturday versus Albany was his 20th tally of the season. The Penguins captain has now registered four 20-goal seasons for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
- Kostopoulos currently leads the team with five game- winning goals and is tied for third in the AHL with 12 power play goals.
- After scoring three goals in his first 51 appearances of the season, Brendan Mikkelson has three goals in his last five games.
- WBS has a +32 goal differential in the third period (75-43).
