
Iowa Releases Toivonen, Re-Signs McKenzie

Des Moines, IA - Iowa Wild General Manager Jim Mill announced on Wednesday that goalie Hannu Toivonen has been released from a Professional Tryout Agreement (PTO). Mill also announced that forward Jim McKenzie has signed a new PTO.
McKenzie has played in 24 games for Iowa this season, scoring three times and adding five assists for eight points. The rugged right wing has also racked up 36 penalty minutes. The seventh-year pro has played in 91 career American Hockey League games, totaling seven goals and 17 points.
Toivonen made one appearance for Iowa, allowing eight goals on 25 shots in a 9-1 loss at Milwaukee on Friday. The veteran goalie made five AHL appearances this season, going 1-2-1 with a 4.87 GAA and a .838 SV%. He returns to Toledo of the ECHL.
The Iowa Wild remains on a five-game road trip with two stops in Grand Rapids and one in Milwaukee prior to returning home on Sunday, Mar. 16 at 5:05 p.m. to host San Antonio. The first 2,500 fans receives a Jason Zucker bobblehead. Fans may purchase the Subway Family Four Pack for Sunday's game, which includes: four hot dogs, four sodas and four tickets, starting at $44. Sunday's game marks the beginning of a six-game homestand. The team also welcomes Texas, Grand Rapids and Charlotte over the home stretch.
