
Five Snappers Named All-Stars

For the second consecutive season the Beloit Snappers will have five representatives on the 2005 Midwest League All-Star Team. The Peoria Chiefs are the host for the All-Star game, Tuesday, June 21, 2005. Deacon Burns will be starting in the outfield for the Western Division All-Stars. Catcher Javi Sanchez was selected as a reserve. Pitchers Anthony Swarzak, Jay Rainville and Steven Duguay were also selected to the squad.
Deacon Burns is currently second in the Midwest League in extra base hits (29) and triples (6), is third in runs scored (39) and tied for third in hits (65), as well as tied for fourth in the league with 17 doubles. Burns is hitting .294 and has driven in 30 runs in 55 games. Javi Sanchez has a .261 average with 14 RBI's in 35 games. Anthony Swarzak leads the Snappers staff in strikeouts with 70. Swarzak is 6-3 with a 2.90 ERA. Jay Rainville is 5-2 with an ERA of 4.00. In 54 innings pitched Rainville has recorded 45 strikeouts. Steven Duguay has a 1-2 record out of the bullpen with a 1.91 ERA and four saves. Duguay was placed on the disabled list in May and will not be participating in the All-Star game.
