COMSTOCK PARK - Anthony Tomey came on to slam the door on Quad Cities with a 1-0 lead in the top of the eighth, but instead allowed a three-run home run to Matt Lemanczyk, which proved to be the difference in a 3-1 Swing victory over the Whitecaps.

Ed Clelland allowed a walk and a hit to start the inning and left after a sacrifice bunt by Juan Lucena moved the runners to second and third. The next batter was Lemanczyk, who knocked the home run. It was the first of the season allowed by Tomey.

West Michigan grabbed a 1-0 lead in the third on a solo home run by Matt Parrish. Josh Rainwater pitched six shutout innings for the Whitecaps with just three hits allowed.

Mike Parisi went eight innings for Quad Cities, limited West Michigan to three hits and struck out eight to earn the victory.

Swing closer Mike Sillman, who blew a save opportunity Monday night in the 11th inning, struck out the side in the ninth to earn his 14th save.

With the loss, the Whitecaps and Swing split the four game series.

Big Numbers: The Whitecaps drew 53,100 fans to Fifth Third Ballpark during the eight game home stand, which concluded Tuesday. It matched the longest home stand of the season. West Michigan will also play eight consecutive games at home July 25-August 1.

Pause for a Moment: The Whitecaps will have Wednesday off before opening a four game series in Battle Creek on Thursday against Southwest Michigan.
