
Dragons Get Lawhorn and Szymanski Back, Add Key

Dayton Dragons News Release
Dayton, OH - 3B/DH Habelito Hernandez has been placed on the DL with a right shoulder strain. Hernandez, who has been serving as the DH for the Dragons, has not seen action at third base since May 13th and will be sent to Sarasota, Florida to have his shoulder evaluated and treated. OF Ben Himes, who joined the Dragons from the Sarasota Reds on May 9th, has been promoted to the Florida State League and will rejoin the Sarasota ball club on Wednesday, June 8th. SS Paul Janish has been placed on the DL and will miss the remainder of the 2005 season after tearing a ligament in his right elbow following a collision at first base in a game with the Burlington Bees on June 5th.
Two players return to the Dragons off the DL and a third has been added from extended spring training to fill the roster spots vacated by the loss of Hernandez, Himes and Janish. 2B Trevor Lawhorn who was placed on the DL retro to May 1st with a sprained left wrist. Also rejoining the Dragons off the DL is OF B.J. Szymanski, the Reds second round selection in the 2004 First Year Player Draft. Szymanski opened the season with the team but was limited to four games before being placed on the DL with a right knee strain on April 14th. 3B Bradley Key will make his Dragons debut after joining the team from extended spring training. Key injured his foot in the Reds Instructional League in the fall and began his rehab in spring training this past March. Key was a 48th round selection by the Reds in the 2004 First Year Player Draft. All three players will be in uniform and are active for the fourth and final game of the Dragons current series with the Burlington Bees at Fifth Third Field.
