GENEVA, IL – The Kane County Cougars, in conjunction with the Oakland Athletics, announced today that right-handed pitcher Keith Perez has been placed on the disabled list with right rotator cuff tendinitis. Right-hander Tomas Cabaniel joins the Cougars to take Perez's spot on the roster. Additionally, the Midwest League announced that Raul Padron, Myron Leslie and Javier Herrera have been named as starters for the Western Division in the 2005 Midwest League All-Star Game on Tuesday, June 21, 2005 at O'Brien Field in Peoria, IL.

The 25-year-old Perez has a 2-0 record with a 5.06 ERA. He worked in 21 games and recorded one save April 25 against South Bend. He joins pitcher Ryan Ford (right shoulder tendinitis), shortstop Gregorio Petit (fractured right middle finger), pitcher James Heuser (left elbow) and outfielder Chris Tritle (left elbow inflammation) on the disabled list.

Cabaniel pitched for the Cougars in seven games and went 0-0 with a 7.04 ERA before being sent to extended spring training May 6 when Eddie Kim joined the club. Then on May 27 he made his first appearance at High-A Stockton (California League), eventually working in three more games to go 1-0 with a 12.60 ERA for the Ports.

Padron will be the designated hitter in the midseason classic, Leslie will man third base and Herrera will roam the outfield. Padron is batting .316 with two home runs and a team-high 26 RBI. Leslie owns a .314 average, three long balls and 19 RBI while Herrera has a batting clip of .250, including four round-trippers and 23 RBI.

Relief pitchers Connor Robertson and Scot Drucker also were named to the All-Star team but will not participate due to their recent promotions to High-A Stockton.
