ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades (26-12-2) lost back-to-back home games for the first time this season after falling 4-1 to the South Carolina Stingrays (16-14-10) on Friday night at Germain Arena.
The Stingrays opened the scoring on a short-handed goal by Craig Olynick late in the first period. The short-handed tally was the seventh scored by the Stingrays this season, and the seventh allowed by the Everblades.
Florida rallied to tie the game early in the second period when Dan Sisca beat South Carolina goaltender Davis Parley from the left circle at 3:49. The Stingrays however answered that goal with three straight to close out the period.
Dominic Soucy regained the lead for South Carolina with his second goal of the season at 7:50, then Evan Schwabe scored the first of his two goals on the night at 11:55 beating Everblades net-minder Kevin Nastiuk with a shot from the left boards. Schawbe extended South Carolina's lead to 4-1 with a power play tally with 1:04 remaining in the second period.
At the start of the third period, Phil Osaer took over in goal for the Everblades, and stopped all seven shots he faced. Nastiuk, who allowed the four goals on 22 South Carolina shots, suffered his first loss with the Everblades falling to 2-1-0. Parley picked up the win stopping 26 of 27 shots to bring his record to 7-6-2.
On the power play, the Everblades closed out the night 0-for-9, while South Carolina finished the game 1-for-8.
