SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Gulls open the official second half of the season Friday night when they host their Pacific Division rival Stockton Thunder. San Diego is just three points out of second place in the division, while Stockton has just won once in its last 17 games.
SERIES HISTORY: The Gulls and Thunder have met twice so far this season with each team notching a win. The two teams will square off four more times during the regular season, all of which will be played in Stockton.

LAST HEAD-TO-HEAD MEETING (NOV. 26 AT SAN DIEGO): Dan DaSilva and Alex Kim scored two goals apiece, leading San Diego past the Thunder 5-3. Kim also added an assist, as he and DaSilva combined for five points - four goals and one assist. San Diego never trailed in the game after scoring the contest's initial three goals. But the Gulls had to hold off the Thunder, which pulled to within 4-3 late in the second period on a short-handed tally at 15:47. However, David Svagrovsky put San Diego back up by two just two minutes later to round out the scoring.
GULLS UPDATE: San Diego (18-16-4) enters the day third in the Pacific Division with 40 points, three behind the second-place Long Beach Ice Dogs and 14 back of the front-running Fresno Falcons... The Gulls are five points ahead of the fourth-place Condors, but Bakersfield has four games in hand... San Diego has one game in hand on Long Beach... The Gulls have split their last four games and are 17-11-4 in their last 32 games overall (since starting the season 1-5-0)... During the last 13 games, the Gulls have killed 76 of 86 penalties (88 percent)... They have scored seven short-handed goals during that span... San Diego is 10-7-3 at home... After Saturday's home game against Stockton, San Diego will play its next six games on the road...
PLAYER NOTES: Steve Hildenbrand has points in six of his last seven games and has 33 points (12g, 21a) in his last 27 games... Richard Keyes has 31 points (12g, 19a) in the last 28 games... All-Star Jesse Bennefield has 29 points (15g, 14a) in the last 20 games. Bennefield had an assist at the All-Star Game Wednesday and was the fastest skater at the Skills Competition Tuesday... Pierre-Luc Sleigher has points in 10 of the last 12 games and has 18 points in that span (7g, 11a)... Tyler Weiman has won seven of his last 10 decisions and has stopped 326 of 352 shots in that span (.926 save percentage)... Tom Lawson has won two of his last three, stopping 89 of 97 shots (.918 save percentage)...
STOCKTON UPDATE: Stockton (6-22-5) begins the day last in the Pacific Division with 17 points, 18 behind Bakersfield for the fourth and final playoff spot... The Thunder are winless in their last six games (0-5-1) and have won once in their last 17 games (1-14-2)... Stockton averages the second-worst goals per game in the ECHL (2.45)... Its only win against the Pacific Division came against the Gulls on Nov. 5. Stockton is 1-5-3 overall inside its division... Joel Irwin and Nathan Martz lead the club with 26 points apiece...
TRANSACTIONS: David Svagrovsky was activated from the injured list today after missing 10 games with a tear in his finger... Five players remain out of the lineup: Alex Kim (broken collar bone), Kelly Askew (broken foot), Guillaume Fournier (concussion), Alex Rogosheske (torn ACL) and Andy Thompson (recovering from wrist surgery)... Cody McLeod remains with Lowell of the American Hockey League...
