Johnstown Chiefs News Release

Johnstown, PA (January 27, 2006) - Goaltender Jonathan Boutin has been recalled by Springfield of the American Hockey League.

Boutin, 20, has a .920 save percentage and a 2.93 goals against average in 19 games with the Chiefs. He led the Chiefs with 8 wins. The move leaves Morgan Cey as the only goaltender on the Chiefs roster.

"We were grateful to have two quality goalies like Boutin and Cey. We wish Boutin continued success and look forward to eventually seeing him in a Tampa Bay sweater," said Chiefs GM Toby O'Brien.

Boutin was named the American Conference starting goaltender in this week's ECHL All-Star game in Fresno, California. He made eight of ten saves in the opening period before giving way to Wheeling's Andry Franck in the second. Before his call-up, Boutin was to rejoin the Chiefs for their weekend road trip.

O'Brien admits the Chiefs are now searching a goaltending partner for Morgan Cey.

Boutin, 6-2 and 195, was the Tampa Bay Lightning's third round choice in 2003.

The Johnstown Chiefs 2005-06 season presented by First National Bank of Pennsylvania resumes tonight, with the Chiefs in Dayton. Hear all of the action on the Chiefs radio network, WNTJ 850-AM and 990-AM, on the web at johnstownchiefs.com. View the game on the B2 networks, at b2now.com.
