Everblades Playoff Bound After 4-2 Victory

ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades (37-25-10) defeated the Augusta Lynx (32-33-7) 4-2 in front of 7,479 at TECO Arena on Saturday night. The Everblades are in the Kelly Cup Playoffs as the number three seed in the Southern Division. They will take on the Roanoke Express in Roanoke beginning on Tuesday, April 6th.

Florida forward Brent McDonald (2 goals) got the Everblades started in the first period when he buried a rebound for his 21st goal of the season.

In the second period Florida tallied three goals in a one minute twelve second span to take a 4-0 lead. McDonald made it 2-0 when he notched his second goal of the night on the powerplay taking a pass in the slot and he one timed it passed Augusta goaltender Jason Saal. A half minute later Keith Anderson found a loose puck in the crease and slid it home for a 3-0 lead. Jay Legault finished up the scoring in the second period when he took a Damien Surma pass during an odd man rush and wristed it high into the net and Florida led 4-0. Augusta pulled to within 4-2 on goals by Greg Jacina and Brandon Doria but the Lynx could not come any closer. Blades netminder Jeff Maund earned his third straight victory and stopped 35 of 37 shots. Jason Saal stopped 31 of 35 shots for Augusta. Florida finished 1 for 3 on the power play while Augusta went 0 for 2. Saturday night's attendance was the second largest ever crowd to see an Everblades home game.
