Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies News Release
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - The Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies of the ECHL, by virtue of their 4-3 win over Wheeling on Saturday, have clinched the second seed in the Northern Division and will have home-ice advantage for the first round of the 2004 ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs.
The Bullies will host the Peoria Rivermen at 7:05PM Wednesday in Game 1 of the best-of-five Northern Division Semifinals. Game 2 will be at 7:05PM Friday, also at Boardwalk Hall. If necessary, the Bullies will also host Game 5 at 7:05PM on Thursday, April 15.
The 2003-04 edition of the Boardwalk Bullies finish the regular season with a franchise-best record of 47-19-6 and 100 points, becoming just the 14th team in the history of the ECHL to reach the 100-point plateau. The 159 goals allowed by the Bullies in 2003-04 and their 2.20 goals against average are both the second lowest in ECHL history. The 10 shutouts in the regular season place the Bullies second all-time in that category behind the 2003-04 Wheeling Nailers.
The Bullies enter the 2004 Kelly Cup Playoffs as the defending ECHL Kelly Cup Champions. They will look to become the first team to capture back-to-back championships since Toledo in 1993 and 1994. Since the Kelly Cup replaced the retired Jack Riley Cup in 1997, no team has won consecutive Kelly Cup Championships.
With the Bullies on their way to the postseason, tickets for the 2004 ECHL Kelly Cup playoffs are on sale now. 13-game playoff packages start as low as $156. All unplayed game tickets can be applied toward ticket packages for the 2004-05 season. Individual playoff tickets for first round games are also on sale now, starting at $8.
