
'Catters defeat Ice Dogs in final game of season, 4-2

Beaumont, TX (April 3, 2004) â The Texas Wildcatters defeated the Long Beach Ice Dogs 4-2 in the final game of their inaugural season. Long Beach opened up the scoring at the 5:56 mark of the opening period as Derek Seal scored his fourth goal of the season. The lone goal of the period was assisted by Darcy Johnson.
Texas tied the game at one at the 6:22 mark of the middle stanza as Martin "You're my boy blue" Masa took a beautiful centering feed from Cory Morgan to tally his 22nd goal of the season. Lukas Smital also assisted on the goal. Long Beach regained the lead six minutes later as Alex Kim won the face-off and recorded his 27th goal of the year.
The Wildcatters wasted no time tying the game at two as Lukas Smital scored his 18th goal of the season from Masa and Morgan. Smital gave the Wildcatters the lead at the 11:33 mark of the final period as he took a pass from Rob Guinn and skated the length of the ice for his 19th goal of the year. Morgan, in his final game as a pro, added an empty-netter with 11 seconds left in the game to secure the 4-2 victory. Davis Parley won his second straight game, as he finished with 28 saves.
