Louisiana IceGators News Release
Lafayette, LA â The Louisiana IceGators have clinched the top spot in the Central Division of the ECHL's Western Conference. This gives the IceGators the top seed in the first round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs, where they will play the fourth-seeded Pensacola Ice Pilots.
The first two games of the first round will be Wednesday, April 7 and Thursday, April 8 at 7:05 p.m. at the Cajundome. The third game will be played in Pensacola on Saturday, April 10 at 7:05 p.m. If a game four is needed, it will also be in Pensacola, on Tuesday, April 13 at 7:05 p.m. Game five, if needed to decide the first round series, will be Wednesday, April 14 at 7:05 p.m. at the Cajundome.
The IceGators and the Ice Pilots have faced each other only once before in the post-season, in the 1998 Southern Conference Finals. The IceGators won the first two games, but Pensacola came back to win the next four to take the series. The Ice Pilots went on to lose the Kelly Cup Finals to the Hampton Roads Admirals.
