Rivermen Rennette, Hemingway Are C&T Hockey Products ECHL Plus Performers for March

Peoria, Ill. (April 3, 2004) – The ECHL announced today that Peoria Rivermen center Tyler Rennette and rookie forward Colin Hemingway are the C&T Hockey Products ECHL Plus Performers of the Month for March.

Rennette and Hemingway were both +19 in March while teammate and rookie Mike Hoffman had the next highest plus/minus rating for the month with +16.

In his first professional season, the 23-year-old Hemingway led the Rivermen in March with 14 goals, two shorthand goals and 24 points in 14 games. In his fourth season in Peoria, Rennette led the team with 16 assists and was second on the team with seven goals and 23 points in 13 games in March.

Rennette was plus in 10 of the 13 games he played in March and he finished even in the other three games. He finished +3 in three games, +2 in three games and +1 in four games. Hemingway was plus in 10 of the 14 games – finishing +4 in one game, +2 in 7 games and +1 in two games.

Rennette is tied for second in the ECHL in plus/minus rating with +35, while Hemingway ranks second on the team and among ECHL rookies in plus/minus rating with +29. Selected in the second round (40th overall) by St. Louis in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft, the 6-foot-1, 180-pound Rennette leads the Rivermen with 31 goals and 68 points. Selected in the eighth round (221st overall) by St. Louis in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, the 6-foot, 195-pound Hemingway has scored 44 points (20g, 24a) in 36 games with Peoria while also scoring two points (2g-0a) in 13 games with Worcester of the American Hockey League.

The Rivermen will take on the defending Kelly Cup Champion Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies in the first round of the 2004 Kelly Cup Playoffs, which will start next week. If Atlantic City loses at home tonight to the first place Wheeling Nailers, Peoria will clinch second place in the Northern Division and host Games One (Tuesday, April 6 – 7:05 p.m. CT) and Two (Wednesday, April 7 – 7:05 p.m. CT) at Carver Arena. Games Three (Friday, April 9 – 6:05 p.m. CT) and Four (Sunday, April 11 – 1:05 p.m. CT) would be held in Atlantic City at Boardwalk Hall. Game Five (Wednesday, April 14 – 7:05 p.m. CT) would return the series to Carver Arena. If Atlantic City wins tonight, the Rivermen would play Games One (Wednesday, April 7 – 6:05 p.m. CT) and Two (Friday, April 9 – 6:05 p.m. CT) in Atlantic City. Games Three (Monday, April 12 – 7:05 p.m. CT) and Four (Tuesday, April 13 – 7:05 p.m. CT) would be at Carver Arena. Game Five (Thursday, April 15 – 6:05 p.m. CT) would return the series to Atlantic City.
