Dubielewicz Backstops Road Win Over WBS Pens

WILKES-BARRE, PA - The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, rode a 32-save performance by Rookie All-Star Goaltender Wade Dubielewicz to a 2-1 road win over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins Wednesday. The Sound Tigers are now tied with the Philadelphia Phantoms for first place in the East Division with 83 points.

The Sound Tigers opened the scoring on Kevin Colley's AHL-career-high tenth goal of the season off an assist from Blaine Down with 4:17 left in the first period, but Wilkes-Barre/Scranton tied the score at 1-1 on Michel Ouellet's 27th goal of the year, a power-play marker, off assists from Matt Murley and Toby Peterson with 7:48 left in the middle period.

The game was tied through two periods of play despite the fact the Penguins had a 21-10 shots on goal advantage, including 14-3 in the second period alone.

The Sound Tigers regained the lead with 3:55 left in regulation when Cail MacLean muscled his way behind the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton net and moved the puck to Jeff Hamilton who slipped it across to Ryan Kraft who in turn rifled a shot home for his 14th goal of the season.

The Penguins called a timeout with 1:05 left to play and pulled Netminder Andy Chiodo in favor of an extra attacker but could not tie the game a second time.

Dubielewicz was the first star of the game exteding his winning streak to three games and his unbeaten streak to five at 4-0-1, Ouellet the was second star, and Kraft was the third star. The Sound Tigers were 0 for 2 on the power play while Wilkes-Barre/Scranton was 1 for 3 and had a 33-16 shots on goal advantage. Chiodo made 14 saves in a losing effort.

The Sound Tigers will play the second of seven straight road games when they visit the Hartford Wolf Pack this Friday at 7:05 p.m. The game will be broadcast live at www.soundtigers.com and on 600 WICC-AM. The Sound Tigers do not play at home again until Wednesday, March 31st when they will host the Penguins at 7:05 p.m.
