Oklahoma City Comets News Release

Nashville, Tenn. - A surging Oklahoma City Dodgers offense was held relatively quiet through five innings before tallying eight runs between the sixth and seventh innings during a 10-6 win over the Nashville Sounds Wednesday night at First Tennessee Park.

Wednesday's victory was Oklahoma City's sixth straight, matching the team's longest winning streak of the season, with the Dodgers scoring at least nine runs in each game. OKC has also won seven of the last eight games and is 10-3 since the All-Star Break.

The Dodgers (48-54) were held to two runs and four hits through the first five innings and trailed, 3-2, entering the sixth. Between the sixth and seventh innings, the team scored eight runs on eight hits and also drew six walks while sending a total of 20 batters to the plate.

DJ Peters tied the game with a screaming line drive to the back of the left field seats to make it 3-3 in the sixth. Later in the inning, Shane Peterson came through with a two-out, two-run single to put OKC back in front at 5-3.

However, the Sounds (42-60) notched a pair of two-out runs in the bottom of the inning to pull even. Christian Lopes hit a RBI single, and Zack Granite followed with a bunt single. After pitcher Chris Nunn fielded Granite's bunt, Nunn's throw to first base went into right field, allowing Lopes to score and tie the game.

Zach Reks put the Dodgers ahead with a RBI single in the seventh. Connor Joe followed with a two-run double, and two batters later, Drew Jackson notched a RBI single to give OKC a 9-6 lead.

With the bases loaded and two outs, Edwin RÃ-os drew a walk to put the Dodgers into double digits for the fifth time in six games.

Nashville converted a leadoff walk into a run in the bottom of the inning to get within four runs. They got no closer, as the OKC bullpen retired the game's final eight batters as well as nine of the final 10 to wrap up the victory.

The Dodgers had two leads earlier in the game only to have the Sounds battle back each time. Three batters into the game, the Dodgers were in front, 2-0. With one out, Will Smith walked and RÃ-os followed with a blast off the top of the batter's eye for his 20th home run of the season.

The Sounds rallied to tie the game in the third inning after having the bases empty with two outs, as four straight batters reached base. Scott Heineman got Nashville on the board with a RBI single. Later with the bases loaded and two out, a passed ball allowed the tying run to score.

Between the second and fifth innings, the Dodgers were held scoreless and to two hits, while Nashville starting pitcher Wes Benjamin retired 12 of 15 batters.

Matt Davidson gave Nashville the lead when he hit a solo homer in the fifth inning, but the Sounds never led again.

Dodgers reliever Josh Sborz (3-3) retired the side in order in the eighth inning and was credited with the win. Nashville reliever Locke St. John (0-2) was charged with all five runs in the seventh inning and took the loss.

The Dodgers look for a three-game sweep of the Sounds when they finish their series at 7:05 p.m. Thursday. Live radio coverage of each game begins 15 minutes before first pitch on AM 1340 "The Game," 1340thegame.com and through the free iHeartRadio or MiLB First Pitch apps.
