'Cakes Lose Late in Memphis

Memphis - Adolis Garcia drilled his 23rd home run of the season in the eighth inning to give the Memphis Redbirds a come from behind 3-1 win over New Orleans.

The 'Cakes grabbed a 1-0 lead in the second with two out double from Eddy Alvarez scoring Peter O'Brien from first base.

New Orleans starter Cody Poteet pitched a gem, pitching a shutout into the eighth inning. He retired the first batter he faced in the eighth and allowed a walk. The 'Cakes turned to the bullpen and R.J. Alvarez walked the first batter he faced and with outs allowed the three run home run.

Memphis reliever Junior Fernandez pitched two scoreless to earn the win and Chris Beck earned his sixth save pitching the ninth.

New Orleans drops to 54-49 and 9 1/2 games back of San Antonio.

GAME NOTES- The 'Cakes lose the series dropping two of three and have lost five of its last six road games.
