Devils Season Concludes with 4-3 Loss

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - Year one of the New Jersey Devils AHL affiliate as the Albany Devils came to a close with a 4-3 loss against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Sunday at the Webster Bank Arena at Harbor Yard. Chad Wiseman and Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond netted power-play goals and Brad Mills scored late in the third as the Devils finish with a 32-42-1-5 record. The Sound Tigers were led by a goal and two assists by Tyler McNeely as they wrap up with a 30-39-4-7 mark.
Albany was without Adam Henrique and Alexander Urbom, who were recalled by New Jersey earlier in the day. Henrique became the 10th Devil to make his NHL debut this season. For Urbom, it was his third stop with the big club and he netted his first-career goal - the game winner - as New Jersey defeated Boston, 3-2.
Wiseman registered his 16th goal of the year and his seventh against the Sound Tigers in four games. The 10-year pro is now only two points away from reaching 400 career points. Leblond posted career-high eighth of the season (all since Feb. 4), while Mills registered his career-best 15 goal.
Trailing 1-0, Wiseman got the Devils on the board with a wrist shot from the left circle 23 ticks into the second period. Ryan Ginand had the lone helper.
After McNeely regained the lead for Bridgeport, Leblond batted a high lofted puck out of midair to even things, 2-2, at 6:52. Darcy Zajac and Mike Banwell were credited with the assists. It was Banwell's first career point.
The Sound Tigers responded with second period goals by Jeremy Colliton and Matt Donovan at 8:48 and 15:18, respectively. Colliton's was a power-play tally and Donovan's was the eventual game winner.
Mills made things interesting cleaning up a rebound at 11:59 with Ginand earning his second assist of the game and Chris Murray had the second helper.
In his 33rd appearance, Jeff Frazee made 19 saves on 23 shots and finishes with an 11-15-3 record. Mikko Koskinen registered the win by denying 46 tries.
The Devils unloaded a season-high 49 shots.
