Binghamton Senators News Release

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - April 10, 2011) - The Ottawa Senators today re-assigned eight players to the club's American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators .

Heading to Binghamton for the AHL playoffs are defencemen Andre Benoit, David Hale and Derek Smith, and forwards Cody Bass, Bobby Butler, Erik Condra, Colin Greening and Zack Smith.

This season, this group contributed 184 NHL games, 27 goals, 34 assists and 164 penalty minutes: Benoit (8-0-1-6), Hale (25-1-4-6), D. Smith (9-0-1-0), Bass (1-0-0-0), Butler (36-10-11-10), Condra (26-6-5-12), Greening (24-6-7-10) and Z. Smith (55-4-5-120). Seventeen players in the Senators' organization saw game action with both the NHL and AHL squads during the 2010-11 campaign.

The B-Sens finished their season with 92 points from 42 wins, 30 losses, three overtime losses and five shootout losses.

Binghamton is guaranteed a playoff spot, but its opponent will only be determined after today's game between division-rival Norfolk Admirals and Connecticut Whale. Norfolk needs a win today to move into the East Division's fourth place, one point ahead of Binghamton. A loss or a single point by the Admirals will see the Senators meet the East Division's first-place team, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. A Norfolk win will have Binghamton cross-over and face the Atlantic Division's second-place team, the Manchester Monarchs.

During the 2010-11 regular season, Binghamton had a 5-2-0-1 record against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and a 1-1-0-0 series with Manchester.
