Fresno Falcons News Release

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno Falcons rookie defenseman Matt Deschamps has been called up to the American Hockey League by the Cleveland Barons.

Deschamps, a product of the University of Maine who participated in the San Jose Sharks' rookie camp and the Barons' training camp prior to this season, has played in 31 games this year for Fresno and recorded three points (1g-2a) and 31 penalty minutes.

While the Falcons were traveling back to Fresno yesterday from a three-game series against the Victoria Salmon Kings in Victoria, British Columbia, Deschamps instead headed directly to Cleveland to join the Barons. Cleveland kicks-off a seven-game road trip tomorrow night against the Iowa Stars in Des Moines.

Deschamps is the second Falcon from Fresno's opening day roster to receive a call-up to the team's AHL affiliate this year. Goaltender Jamie Holden was summoned to Cleveland on Oct. 22 and appeared in 13 games for the Barons before he returned to Fresno on Dec. 28.

The Falcons just concluded a stretch of 12 of 13 games away from home during which they went 8-1-4. They return to Save Mart Center tomorrow at 7 p.m. to take on the two-time Kelly Cup runner-up Florida Everblades. The game is a Carl's Jr. Two-for-Tuesday, with two-for-one coupons available at participating Carl's Jr. restaurants.

Individual tickets are on sale now at all Ticketmaster outlets and Save Mart Center's box office with prices ranging from $8 - $22. For complete ticket information and an arena map of Save Mart Center, visit www.fresnofalcons.com/singletickets.html, or contact the Falcons front office directly at (559) 485-PUCK (7825).
