Rays Finish Week With Ones

South Carolina Stingrays News Release


South Carolina finished 1-1-1 on the week to keep their record even at 13-13-8 on the season. The Rays now have possession of fifth place in the South Division of the ECHL.

Evan Schwabe had a nice week for South Carolina scoring three goals and adding two assists for five points on the week. Schwabe has 13 points in his last ten games on five goals and eight assists. In his last five games, the rookie has four goals and five assists for nine points.

South Carolina's power play continues to be one of the most potent units in the league. The Rays have a power play which clicks at 20.7% and is ranked seventh in the ECHL.

The Stingrays lost another shoot out this week, they are now 0-8 in games that advance past regulation(0-3 OT; 0-5 SO).

Tuesday, January 3rd

Stingrays 2 Vs Charlotte 5

Mike Bayrack had a pair of goals including the game winner as the Charlotte Checkers beat the South Carolina Stingrays for the sixth straight time 5-2 at the North Charleston Coliseum in front of 3,470 fans.

Friday, January 6th

Stingrays 2 Vs Greenville 3 SO

Another shoot out another single point. The Greenville Grrrowl edged past the South Carolina Stingrays for a 3-2 shoot out win in front of 5,627 fans at the North Charleston Coliseum. The loss spoiled two point nights for Brad Parsons and Cail MacLean of the Rays, who each had a goal and an assist in the contest.

Saturday, January 7th

Stingrays 6 @ Augusta 3

Evan Schwabe continued his dominance over the Augusta Lynx with two goals and two assists as the South Carolina Stingrays doubled Augusta 6-3 at the Richmond County Civic Center. Schwabe now has three goals and five assists for eight points in five games against the Lynx.

Stingrays Add Gomez From IR, Lose Engelland to Hershey!

South Carolina Stingrays Head Coach Jason Fitzsimmons announced today that Deryk Engelland has been recalled to the Hershey Bears of the AHL and Robin Gomez has been added to the Stingrays lineup from the Injured List.

Engelland returns to the Bears after helping the Rays since being sent down last Sunday. It is not known how long Engelland will remain in the American League.

The Stingrays also suspended Likit Andersson today. Andersson was acquired in a trade last week by the club, but did not report.
