
Defenseman Johnson Loaned to the Hershey Bears

Peoria, Ill. (November 29, 2004) â Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Jason Christie of the Peoria Rivermen of the ECHL announced today that second-year defenseman Trevor Johnson has been loaned to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Johnson â a 5-foot-11, 190-pound native of Trail, British Columbia â currently ranks third on the Rivermen in points with eight (3g, 5a), leads team defensemen in all offensive categories and is tied for 17th among ECHL defensemen in points. Claimed off waivers from the Trenton Titans on October 22, the 22-year-old defenseman was a member of the 2004 United Hockey League (UHL) Colonial Cup Champion Muskegon Fury, notching two points (1g, 1a) in two playoff appearances. He tallied 26 points (3g, 23a) in 74 games in his first full professional season (2003-2004) with the Fury.
After completing a five-year Major Junior "A" career in the Western Hockey League (WHL), Johnson spent 13 games with Muskegon, collecting six assists in seven regular season games and 10 points (4g, 6a) in nine postseason contests. He spent the majority of his overage year (2002-2003) of junior hockey with the Tri-City Americans, registering 40 points (15g, 25a) and 123 penalty minutes (PIM), after opening the season with the Seattle Thunderbirds. That season, he set single-season WHL career bests in goals (17) and PIM (152). He also appeared in the 2000 Memorial Cup Finals with the Kootenay Ice.
The Peoria Rivermen are a proud affiliate of the NHL's St. Louis Blues and a member of the ECHL â The Premier "AA" Hockey League. Peoria continues its home schedule in its ninth season in the 28-team league Friday, December 3, when they host the Wheeling Nailers for the first time this season. Game time is 7:30 p.m. at Carver Arena. It is Stanley Steemer Central Illinois Soccer Night. MLS stars and formerly Bradley standouts Bryan Namoff & Tim Regan will be on hand signing autographs from 6:30-9:00 p.m. The first 750 kids 12 and Under will receive a regulation Stanley Steemer soccer ball. The IHSA State Champion Peoria Notre Dame Soccer Team will be honored during the second intermission, and there will be soccer-related games and concourse activities taking place throughout the night. It is also a Sprite/Barq's Root Beer/Pibb Xtra Finally Friday, presented by 99x and Insight Media. Fans may bring one of those three cans to the Carver Arena Box Office and receive a Buy One, Get One Free Upper Bowl Ticket offer. On Sunday, December 5, Peoria plays host to Wheeling again at 3:00 p.m. at Carver Arena. It is the first four Peoria Journal Star/Insight Media/InPlay Family Days. Kids 12 and Under receive a $2 Upper Bowl admission, and there are $2.50 Kids Meals available. Arnold of "Hey, Arnold!" will also be on hand. It is also a Kaufman Wellness Center Night. Fans may receive a free spinal check and back massage, courtesy of the Kaufman Wellness Center staff, by making a donation to the Children's Hospital of Illinois.
