Pride's Boucher Named Reebok Hockey ECHL Saver of the Week
November 30, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL) News Release
PRINCETON, N.J. - Nick Boucher of Pee Dee is the Reebok Hockey ECHL
Saver of the Week for November 22-28.
Playing with an injury to the thumb on his blocker hand, the 23-year-old
Boucher started and won three games in four nights to help Pee Dee move to
within one point of East Division leader Charlotte.
Starting in place of Sebastien Laplante, who is on injured reserve, the
5-11 and 175-pound Boucher made 19 saves in regulation and one save in
overtime before stopping seven of nine shooters in the shootout of a 3-2
win at Augusta on Wednesday. After stopping 26 shots in a 3-1 win against
rival South Carolina on Friday, Boucher made 31 saves in a 3-2 win against
Charlotte.
Boucher has started four consecutive games for Pee Dee, going 3-0-1 to
improve to 5-2-2 while lowering his goals-against average to 2.30 and
raising his save percentage to .921. He has won his last two starts at home
and is 3-0-1 with a goals-against average of 1.22 and a save percentage of
.957 in four home games.
Selected in the ninth round (280th overall) by Pittsburgh in the 2000 NHL
Entry Draft, Boucher played his rookie season in 2003-04 with Wheeling of
the ECHL and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League. He was
20-6-1 with four shutouts, and ranked 13th in the league with a
goals-against average of 2.48 in 29 regular season games with Wheeling and
1-1-0 with a goals-against average of 2.02 and a save percentage of .918 in
two games in the Kelly Cup Playoffs. In six games with
