Florida Everblades News Release

ESTERO, FL -  The Florida Everblades (8-9-0) used a pair of goals from Brad Church to upend the Las Vegas Wranglers (9-7-1) 5-4 on Tuesday night at Germain Arena, giving the Everblades back-to-back wins over Las Vegas.

Church opened the scoring for Florida with his fifth goal of the season, a short-handed tally at 8:37 of the opening period when Wranglers defenseman Deryk Engalland lost the puck in his own end allowing Church to break in free on Las Vegas goalie Marc Magliarditi.  Just 1:21 later, Matt Hendricks gave the 'Blades a 2-0 lead with his seventh goal of the year.  The lead held until Doug Wright fired a shot past Everblades goaltender Craig Kowalski at the 15:02 mark of the first period.

Each team notched a goal in the second period, with Las Vegas tying the game at the 7:00 mark on a goal by Jeff Attard, but the 'Blades responded just 1:48 later on a deflection goal by Steve Saviano.

With the 'Blades leading by a goal entering the third period, the teams combined for three goals in the first 2:52.  The Wranglers tied the game at three at 2:22 on Dan Tudin's fifth goal of the season, then took their only lead of the night 14 seconds later when Jason Spence banged home a rebound for the 4-3 lead.  However, Las Vegas' lead lasted only 16 seconds before Church notched his second of the night firing a shot inside the left post off a face-off at 2:52.  The game remained tied at four until Damian Surma wristed home a shot with 1:08 remaining in the game after a Wranglers clearing attempt deflected off the linesman's skate to remain in the attacking zone.

Kowalski turned away 29 Las Vegas shots to pick up the win and raise his record to 5-4-0.  Magliarditi allowed the five goals on 33 shots in the losing effort, which brought his record to 4-4-1.  Florida finished the night 0-for-4 on the power play, while the Wranglers failed to convert on two power play opportunities.

Florida hits the road for the first of a four-game trip on Friday, December 3 when the team travels to Charleston, SC to take on the South Carolina Stingrays at 7:05 p.m.  You can hear all of the Everblades action on SportsRadio 770 AM or via internet by visiting www.floridaeverblades.com, www.abc-7.com, and www.nbc-2.com  with the "Voice of the Everblades" Kevin Reiter calling the play-by-play.
