
Reading Set To Ink Goaltender Matt Yeats

Reading, PA â The Reading Royals, affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and AHL's Manchester Monarchs, have announced that they are finalizing negotiations with goaltender Matt Yeats and an agreement is imminent.
Royals general manager Ray Delia said that Reading is fortunate to land Yeats, "I have had several conversations over the past two weeks with Matt's representation regarding his availability in the event we lost Cody (Rudkowsky) or Barry (Brust) to the AHL. Matt has won championships as a collegiate and professional, and we feel he will provide us with solid goaltending."
Yeats, 25, hasn't appeared in a game this season. The 6-foot, 185-pound goaltender appeared in five games with the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League in 2003-04. He posted a 1-3-0 record with a 3.04 goals against average and .908 save percentage. The Innisfail, Alberta native appeared in seven games with Portland of the American Hockey League last season, as well. He was 2-1-1 with a 2.17 goals against average and .928 save percentage. In his rookie season as a professional in 2002-03, Yeats was a member of the 2003 Kelly Cup Champion Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies. He appeared in 48 games during his rookie campaign, posting 23 wins a 3.01 goals against average and .896 save percentage. Prior to his professional career, Yeats spent three seasons at the University of Maine where he appeared in 85 games recording a record of 44-23-11 a 2.70 goals against average and .898 save percentage. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in 1998 in the ninth round, 248th overall.
The Reading Royals are entering their fourth season in Reading, Pennsylvania after relocating from Columbus, Ohio. The Royals enjoyed their first Kelly Cup playoff appearance last season, claiming the Northern Division Title and were one win away from qualifying for the Kelly Cup Finals. The Royals and the City of Reading are proud to be hosting the 13th annual ECHL All-Star Game and Skills Competition presented by Coors Light on January 25 and 26.
Reading returns to the ice this weekend with a pair of games against the Trenton Titans. Friday, Reading hosts Trenton at 7:05 p.m. in the Sovereign Center. Fans are encouraged to bring teddy bears to the game for the Annual Teddy Bear Toss after the Royals first goal! Plus, the first 3,000 fans through the gate receive a t-shirt courtesy of Chevrolet â An American Revolution. The Titans and Royals meet in Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, New Jersey on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. Follow all the Royals action on the Casa Grande Royals Radio Network beginning at 6:35 with the Classic Café pregame show!
