Curve Sweep Doubleheader against SeaWolves

ERIE, Pa. - The Altoona Curve took both games in a doubleheader against the Erie SeaWolves on Wednesday night at Jerry Uht Park, 11-3 and 4-2.

The Curve (46-39) totaled 22 hits between the two seven-inning games against the SeaWolves (33-51).

Adam Frazier extended his hitting streak to 11 games with three hits over the two games. After going 1-for-3 with a home run and four RBI in the first game, Josh Bell had two hits, including a double in game two.

Bell opened up the first game with a three-run homer in the top of the first inning, his fourth of the season.

After an unearned run against Curve starter Matt Benedict (Win, 4-3) in the bottom of the first, the SeaWolves closed with a run in the third with a Jason Krizan RBI single.

The Curve responded with a four-run fourth, including RBI hits by Eric Wood and Max Moroff, as well as a run-scoring fielder's choice hit into by Frazier and a sacrifice fly by Bell.

The Altoona offense plated four more runs in the fifth with RBI doubles by Mel Rojas, Jr. and Andy Vasquez and a two-run single by Frazier.

Benedict pitched all seven innings for the Curve, allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits with no walks and three strikeouts in the second complete game of his career.

Erie starter Austin Kubitza (Loss, 5-7) allowed ten runs (seven earned) on nine hits in 4.1 innings.

In the second game of the night, the Curve again took a lead in the first inning with an RBI single by Jose Osuna. In the second inning, Edward Salcedo brought in a run while grounding into a fielder's choice.

After a run by Erie in the bottom of the second, Salcedo hit an RBI double in the fourth to put the Curve ahead 3-1. Dan Gamache pushed the lead to three with an RBI single in the fifth.

Zack Dodson (Win, 4-5) allowing one run on five hits over five innings. John Kuchno (Save, 5) allowed a home run in the seventh but closed out the game.

In his Double-A debut, Montreal Robertson (Loss, 0-1) allowed three runs (two earned) in 3.2 innings.

The Curve and SeaWolves play the finale of the three-game set on Thursday afternoon at Jerry Uht Park. Right-hander Jason Creasy (8-2, 3.55) starts on the hill for Altoona, with righty Chad Green (2-11, 5.00) pitching for Erie. First pitch is scheduled for 12:05 p.m.
