Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release

BINGHAMTON, NY - The Eastern League has announced the addition of Binghamton Mets reliever Dario Alvarez to the Eastern Division roster for the All-Star Classic to be played in Portland on Wednesday, July 15. Alvarez will fill the vacancy left by Paul Sewald, who will miss the All-Star Classic while pitching for the US team at the Pan American Games.

Alvarez, 26, joins Brandon Nimmo, Josh Rodriguez, Gavin Cecchini and Luis Cessa as the B-Mets representatives to the League's annual talent showcase. The southpaw from Santiago, Dominican Republic has posted ten straight scoreless appearances heading into Wednesday night's game. Alvarez has held opponents to a .200 batting average, including a .114 mark against left-handed hitters. He's compiled a 12.0 K/9 IP rate over 27 games.

Alvarez enjoys his second straight All-Star nod. He was a South Atlantic League Mid-Season All-Star as a Savannah Sand Gnat last year.

The B-Mets (42-41) continue their three-game series against the Rock Cats on Wednesday night at 6:35 PM. The Horizons Federal Credit Union Pregame Show can be heard starting at 6:20 PM on Newsradio 1290 WNBF and the Binghamton Mets channel on TuneIn.
