Friday, CONDORS 3 vs. Alaska 1; attn: 6,811

Alaska opened up the scoring in the first period but the Condors reeled off three straight tallies in a 3-1 victory over first place Alaska. Lars-Peder Nagel, Guy Dupuis and Connor James all lit the lamp for the Condors, who scored twice in the second period to seize a share of the division lead with the win. Bakersfield outshot Alaska 43-19 in the contest, which featured 149 penalty minutes - 67 in the third period alone.

Saturday, FRESNO 4 vs. Condors 2

Fresno opened up a 3-0 lead during the second period before the Condors could get on the board, and kept Bakersfield at bay for a 4-2 win. Ryan Gillis and Guy Dupuis scored the only goals for the Condors, and Jason Wolfe suffered the loss between the pipes. Lars-Peder Nagel recorded a pair of assists.

Sunday, Condors 4 vs. FRESNO 1

Bakersfield avenged their loss from the previous night by building up a 4-0 lead by the early portion of the third period and cruising to a 4-1 win. Mathieu Brunelle, Brett Lutes, Lars-Peder Nagel and Brad Mehalko all scored for the Condors and Yutaka Fukufuji notched his seventh straight victory between the pipes. Fresno scored with less than seven minutes remaining to snap his shutout bid.

Where we stand

The Condors sit two points behind the Alaska Aces in the West Division standings, with 81 points and a record of 36-16-9. Long Beach is three points behind the Condors in the standings in third place and Fresno, with 73 points, are holding down the fourth spot.

What's up this week

The Condors travel to Las Vegas on Tuesday for a game against the Wranglers at 7:05 p.m. The Wranglers have dropped out of the playoff picture in the West, ranking 18 points behind fourth-place Fresno with 57 points and a 25-27-7 record.

They return to host the Alaska Aces on Friday, March 18th and Saturday, March 19th. On the 18th, the Condors will honor the 25th anniversary of the "Miracle on Ice" by wearing replica 1980 USA jerseys from those fateful Winter Games. As with all jersey raffle and auctions, five of the game-worn jerseys will be raffled off throughout the night and the rest will be auctioned off after the game to raise money for the Petroleum Shrine Club, sponsored by KGET-TV 17, The Big 96.5 and American Business Machines. On the 19th, 106.1 KRAB Radio presents the Oakland Raiderettes, performing during intermissions and greeting fans.

News from the Nest

· Mathieu Brunelle scored his seventh goal since joining the team on Sunday. He has 7g-1a in seven games since being acquired from Dayton.

· G Yutaka Fukufuji is tied for the league rookie lead with 25 wins on the year. He has won his last seven starts and has just one regulation loss in his last 17 appearances since January 2nd.

· Saturday's attendance of 6,811 upped the Condors average attendance to 5,262 on the season, ranking fifth out of the ECHL's 28 teams.

· The Condors have outshot their opponents in 46 of their 61 games this season.

· Bakersfield is 22-0-3 when leading after two periods. When trailing after two, they are 7-14- 3.

· Apparently long weekends don't bother Bakersfield. The Condors are 5-0-1 in the third game of three-in-three nights.

· The Condors game against Alaska on Friday was the second most penalized game of the season with 149 total PIM. Four of the top five penalized games this season for Bakersfield are against Tuesday's opponent, Las Vegas.

· Bakersfield has just three road games remaining on the regular season schedule, with two in Las Vegas and one in Long Beach.

· With 11 games remaining, the Condors need six wins to surpass the team record of 41, set in 2002-03 in the West Coast Hockey League. The Condors need just 11 points to overtake the team record of 91 points, also set in 02-03.
