Fresno Falcons News Release

Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons lost to the Bakersfield Condors 4-1 as Bakersfield goalie Yutaka Fukufuji saved 30 of 31 shots, stopping the Falcons' home-winning streak at six games.

The loss in front of 3,335 fans was physical throughout and brought the season series between the West division rivals to five victories for Fresno and four victories for Bakersfield with one game remaining.

The first goal was scored 8:36 into the game when Bakersfield's Mathieu Brunelle rebounded his own shot and put the puck past Fresno goalie Jamie Hodson for a 1-0 Condors lead that lasted through the rest of the period.

Brett Lutes fired a slap shot from behind the blue line that slipped through Hodson's legs at 1:21 of the second period for a 2-0 Bakersfield lead. The Condors took a 3-0 lead 5:15 into the period after Lars-Peder Nagel knocked in a rebound out of mid-air that found the back of the net.

After more than 20 minutes of scoreless play, Brad Mehalko then streaked past Fresno during an untimely line change and scored a goal after grabbing a rebound of his previous shot to give Bakersfield a 4-0 lead 6:49 into the third period.

Fresno stopped Fukufuji's shutout attempt when David Brisson faked left, went right and scored a goal 13:36 into the final period for a 4-1 score that lasted through the rest of the game.

The Falcons' next game is Tuesday, March 15, at 7 p.m. against the Alaska Aces at Save Mart Center.

Regular-priced tickets are on sale for as low as $8 per seat and may be purchased directly at Save Mart Center's box office and all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 485-TIXS (8497), or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
