Atlanta Gladiators News Release
Adding Another: Jeff Campbell picked up his 26th goal of the year in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Pee Dee Pride. Campbell's 26 goals leads the Gladiators in that category while he ranks 3rd among ECHL rookies for goals scored. The Hensall, Ontario native scored 26 goals in 37 games during his rookie collegiate season with Western Michigan during the 2000-01 season.
Joining the Club: Chris Durno recorded his 20th goal of the season in Friday's 2-1 loss against the Louisiana IceGators and becomes the 3rd player this season to reach the plateau. Durno joins Jeff Campbell (26) and Mike Vigilante (21) with 20 or more goals this season. Durno finished last year with 20 goals in 68 games for the Gladiators.
On a Roll! Netminder Sean Fields improved to 5-0-1 during his past 6 starts with a 4-1 victory over the Pee Dee Pride on Saturday. Fields hasn't allowed more than 3 goals in a game during that stretch while posting a 1.78 goals against average and a .933 save percentage for the Gladiators in his past 6 starts.
A Career High: Rookie forward Mike Stathopoulos recorded a career high 2 goals in last night's 6-3 win over the South Carolina Stingrays. The Scarborough, Ontario native also chipped in an assist in the win tying a career high for points in a game with three. Stathopoulos now has 3, 3-point games this season.
A First: Libor Ustrnul recorded his first point in the ECHL in the Gladiators 2-1 win over the Columbia Inferno on Tuesday night. Ustrnul added an assist on the Gladiators first goal of the game late in the first period. The native of the Czech Republic has posted 2 assists in 6 games this season for the Gladiators.
The "D" in Defense: Defenseman Randy Dagenais continues to pick up points for the Gladiators. He added a goal in Saturday's 4-1 win over Pee Dee and now ranks 1st among ECHL defenseman in that category with 14 on the year. Dagenais also ranks 3rd overall among ECHL defenseman in points with 44 in 58 games this season.

March 8th, Gladiators 2, Columbia, 1 â W
The Gladiators picked up the win in regulation closing the gap in the American Conference playoff race. Brad Schell posted the Gladiators first goal of the game with 7.5 seconds left in the first period beating Columbia netminder Rob McVicar over the shoulder on the power play with a slapshot. Mike Stathopoulos pushed the Gladiators lead to 2-0 midway through the second period. Columbia scored later in the period but could get no closer. Libor Ustrnul recorded his first assists with the Gladiators on Schell's goal while Alex Sawruk, Randy Dagenais and Joe Bourn also picked up helpers in the win. Sean Fields made 20 saves for the Gladiators.
March 11th, Louisiana 2, Gladiators 1 â L
Chris Durno posted the Gladiators only goal in the game with just 35 seconds left in the third period cut pull the Gladiators within a goal but could not equalize the contest in the final seconds. With the goal, Durno becomes the 3rd player on the Gladiators to reach 20 goals this season. Cam Brown and Jeff Campbell picked up the assists on the goal. Adam Berkhoel made 20 saves in the loss for the Gladiators.
March 12th, Gladiators 4, Pee Dee 1 â W
Randy Dagenais scored the games first goal shorthanded on a misplayed puck by the Pee Dee netminder 3:29 into the game. Pee Dee tied the game up at 1-1 before the end of the first period but Joe Bourne on the power play and Mike Stathopoulos scored second period goals for the Gladiators 44 seconds apart to give the Gladiators a 3-1 lead after 2 period. Jeff Campbell rounded out the scoring 19 seconds into the third period. Kris Goodjohn had 2 assists in the win while Sean Fields made 26 saves for the Gladiators in the win.
March 13th, Gladiators 6, South Carolina 3 â W
The Gladiators and the Stingrays exchanged goals throughout the first period with Andrew Oke scoring the games' first goal and Mike Stathopoulos posting the last goal of the first period. Mike Vigilante had the other goal for the Gladiators in the first period. Brad Schell pushed the Gladiators lead to 4-2 in the second period but South Carolina closed the gap before the end of the second with a shorthanded goal. Kris Goodjohn regained the two-goal advantage for the Gladiators while Mike Stathopoulos rounded out the scoring with his second goal of the game. Joe Bourne, Chris Durno and Cam Brown all posted two assists in the win. Adam Berkhoel made 30 saves in the win for Gwinett.

Gwinnett leads the season series 5-1-0 after a win on Sunday against the Stingrays. Jeff Campbell leads the Gladiators in scoring against the Stingrays with 13 points off of 8 goals and 5 assists in 6 games. The Gladiators are 7-for-25, or 28% on the power play against the Stingrays, the best for Gwinnett against any team this season.
Friday, March 18th, vs. Mississippi Sea Wolves, 7:35 p.m. â wdun.com
It's adult Cap Night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center as the first 2,000 adults will receive a Gladiators team logo cap courtesy of Moncrief Heating & Air, The Gwinnett Daily Post and Kicks-Eagle Radio. The Gladiators are 2-2-2 this season against the Sea Wolves as this game marks the final contest of the regular season for Gwinnett against Mississippi.
Saturday, March 19th, @ Charlotte Checkers, 7:00 p.m. â wdun.com
It's the final visit of the regular season for the Gladiators to the Cricket Arena to take on the Checkers. Charlotte leads the season series 3-2-0 while the Gladiators have outscored the Checkers by a combined 15-14 margin. Kris Goodjohn's 6 assists leads all players in scoring in the series.
Sunday, March 20th, vs. Columbia Inferno, 4:05 p.m. â wdun.com

Gwinnett and Columbia are both 3-2-1 this season against each other. The Gladiators won the last meeting, 2-1 last Tuesday. No player has more than 4 points in the season series.
