Royals split at home, fall out of first in the North

Reading split two games at home this week. Reading was victorious on Friday night against Dayton, 5-3. It was the fifth win in six tries versus the Bombers. Atlantic City leapfrogged Reading in the standings after their 3-1 win on Saturday night.

The Royals will face both Dayton and Atlantic City again this week. The Royals begin on the week Tuesday against red hot Peoria. It's Jazz Fest Jersey Night in the Sovereign Center! The Royals will wear special St. Patty's Day jerseys, which will be auctioned off for charity. Dayton returns to the Sovereign Center on St. Patty's Day and the first 1,000 children, 12-and-under, receive a Royals Frisbee. It's the Bombers third visit to the Sovereign Center in the month of March. The Royals take to the road on Saturday to lace ‘em up against Atlantic City before returning home on Sunday to face off against Trenton. Sam Adams is handing out Royals car flags to the first 1,500 fans, 21-and-over.

LAST WEEK Friday, March 11 vs. Dayton Sovereign Center 7:05PM ET

GAME NOTES: Reading got revenge for a 4-3 loss at the hands of the Bombers a week ago. The Royals powered to a 5-3 victory over Dayton with a third period in which they outscored Dayton, 2-0. Tom Galvin scored two goals in the contest, while Mike Sandbeck added a goal and an assist, including the game winner. Reading out shot Dayton 36-18.

Saturday, March 12 vs. Atlantic City Sovereign Center 7:05PM ET

GAME NOTES: Atlantic City made it two in a row over Reading in the Sovereign Center with their 3-1 victory. Preston Mizzi ended Trevor Koenig's shutout bid with just five seconds remaining in regulation. The Royals fell to 1-2-1 at home against Atlantic City.

THIS WEEK Tuesday, March 15 vs. Peoria Sovereign Center 7:05PM ET

GAME NOTES: Reading battles Peoria for the sixth time this season. The Rivermen rudely dismissed Reading with back-to-back wins in Peoria at the end of February. Overall, the Royals hold a 3-2-0 mark against the Rivermen with two games remaining in Reading after this game.

Thursday, March 17 vs. Dayton Sovereign Center 7:05PM ET

GAME NOTES: Reading and Dayton meet for the third consecutive week in the Sovereign Center in Reading. The Royals hold a 5-1-0 record this season against the Bombers with two games remaining in the season series after tonight. The Royals host the Bombers next week, then travel to Dayton on April 1st to finish off nine regular season meetings.

Saturday, March 19 @ Atlantic City Boardwalk Hall 7:05PM ET

GAME NOTES: The Royals look to bounce back after a 3-1 loss at the hands of the Bullies a week ago in the Sovereign Center. Reading has posted a 2-3-2 mark against the Atlantic City this season with three games remaining, including a 1-1-1 record in Boardwalk Hall.

Sunday, March 20 vs. Trenton Sovereign Center 5:05PM ET

GAME NOTES: The Reading Royals and Trenton Titans meet for the fifth and final time in the Sovereign Center on Sunday afternoon. The Royals are 2-2-0 at home and 3-4-1 against the Titans this season. The final meeting between these two clubs is Saturday, March 26 in Trenton.

Cody Rudkowsky split two games he appeared in this week. Rudkowsky broke a three-game slide on Friday night with a 15 save performance in the Royals 5-3 win. Saturday, Rudkowsky made 22 saves in the Royals 3-1 loss to Atlantic City.
